Nigerian striker Nwankwo Kanu's first-half goal was enough to overcome a spirited challenge from Cardiff City. Cardiff held their own in a lively first half but the Premier League side took control after the break. In a postgame interview, Kanu was quick to praise the influence of longtime Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp. [Nwankwo Kanu, Portsmouth Striker]: "(Harry Redknapp is) Very important, everybody wants to play for him, everybody want to do a lot for him. Being in the final, we lost three games in the league and people start doubting, but yeah he's the man that always brings the best out of his players and that's what he did today." Saturday's FA Cup win was the first trophy for Redknapp, who has been in the game for more than 40 years. Now on to racing, where Townsend Bell set the weekend's fastest qualifying laps for next week's Indianopolis 500. Scott Dixon will have pole position while Target Chip Ganassi-teammate Dan Wheldon is second on the grid. Dixon secured the Indy pole in the previous weekend's qualifying after lapping his competition around the 2.5 mile circuit. With the Indy field virtually set, Max Papis may well struggle in bump-day qualifying after crashing on Saturday. Hideki Mutoh also crashed after losing control; but, fortunately, he had already qualified. The Japanese driver will be in the third row when the 33-car Indy field starts their engines.
